il capitano statunitense superdotato simbolo della grandezza, della gloria e della forza dell’america: più volte mortificato, calpestato, fatto a pezzi e distrutto come la costituzione ed i principi democratici del suo paese, ma anche lui sempre poi risorto, ristabilito e ripristinato in qualche modo, a volte anche poco ortodosso ed eticamente non irreprensibile, ma sicuramente efficace, pratico, conveniente e redditizio |
seconda serie Corno 1982-83
Questa seconda serie Corno di CAP, forse superflua e pleonastica ma ugualmente affascinante e pregevole, ristampa materiale già pubblicato in precedenza, proseguendo la (ri)proposta cronologica del personaggio dal punto in cui si era interrotta su Capitan America Gigante n.14.
In questo numero 1 storia completa + 2 parziali (una che finisce e l’altra che inizia). Come spalla di Cap c’è un Falcon meno leggiadro del solito in quanto è rimasto di stucco per il micidiale tocco di gargoyle che trasforma in statue le persone, ma fortunatamente il super-uccellaccio pur impietrito non ha perso la sua consueta ed invidiabile abbronzatura. Non mancano nemmeno gli sbirri dello SHIELD capeggiati dal trasandato Nick Fury e dalla vanitosa Sharon Carter.

Synopsis
Continued from last issue…
Steve, during the patrol as a common police officer, is forced to wear the costume of Captain America to chase a mysterious figure who, shrouded in shadow, leads him into a craft shop where stone statues are made. Among the statues, our hero recognizes those of the missing policemen, suddenly realizing that he is dealing with Gargoyle, the criminal who has the power to turn everything he touches into stone.

Synopsis
Captain America traces the missing policemen to a graveyard and with the Falcon’s help barely escapes the Grey Gargoyle’s touch that can turn any man into stone. Gargoyle makes a strategic retreat with hopes of creating an army of living statues, and culminating his plan by stealing Element X; Falcon then follows the Gargoyle to the villain’s headquarters while Cap meets with Nick Fury and Sharon Carter in SHIELD’s helicarrier.
Notes
- This is the second appearance of the Falcon’s long-time romantic interest Leila Taylor. Her last name will not be revealed until Captain America #188 (in Italy in CAPC # 100).
- This issue’s cover is signed by artist John Romita.
- The Grey Gargoyle/Paul Duvall is “Pierre DuVal” in this issue. “Pierre” is later revealed to be Duvall’s middle name.

Synopsis

Captain America finds the Falcon and brings him back to the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier. Once on board, the Falcon’s mixed alliances with the Grey Gargoyle.
Once on board it is a race to stop the Gargoyle before he can acquire Element X.
