prima serie Editoriale Corno

The Thing, Human Torch, Tigra, Thundra and Impossible Man enter the Baxter Building with the inert body of the Metalloid robot, just as Reed Richards (unknown to them actually Reed’s counterpart from Counter-Earth) was finished checking to see if his duplicate had died in the Negative Zone. Realizing that he will have to eliminate the Human Torch and Thing to avoid being detected, he sends Thundra, Tigra, and Impossible Man off to investigate the scene of the battle against the Metalloid. Although they find that Reed is acting strangely, the visitors to the Baxter Building comply with the request. Reed then convinces Ben and Johnny that the Metalloid came from the Negative Zone and gets them to take belt harnesses to travel into the zone.

While in the Negative Zone, Ben and Johnny begin to confide in each other about how they both found that Reed has been acting strange since their battle with the Brute, and when they realize that Reed stopped using the harnesses they were now using years ago because independent mobility in the Negative Zone was safer, the begin to consider the idea that the Reed back on Earth is really the Brute posing as their leader. They eventually arrive at Annihilius’ fortress and see that Reed and Annihilus are battling a giant robot creature. They help fight it off, sending it fleeing off toward the Negative Zone portal to Earth. Pulling Reed aside, they learn that he is really their leader, however what really confirms to them that their Reed was switched with his Counter-Earth doppleganger is the fact that they find their lines have been cut.

Notes

It’s a reprise of the dangling “War of the Three Galaxies” storyline from the Inhumans’ canceled series. This story is a bit of an anticlimax after several issues of buildup in The Inhumans, but at least we finally get some sense of closure.

Synopsis

Continued from last issue…

Carmilla Frost, bathing in a nearby creek, encounters two uniformed men from Battle Creek. Grok kills one.

Frost takes the other prisoner. More militiamen attack the freemen camp. One of Killraven’s silver stars kills the leader, Racque.

Hawk picks up Racque’s M23 Thermal Incinerator and throws it to Killraven, who fires at the attackers. All of them die in the explosion.

The prisoner, Foropulist, tells them about the Treasure of Battle Creek and their leader, Pstun-Rage the Vigilant.

Next morning, Killraven and a reluctant M’Shulla mount the reptilian stallion. Killraven asks M’Shulla who keeps writing “Killraven was here” on the wanted posters.

“Now how would I know?” answers M’Shulla. On their way through the ruins of Battle Creek, they are shadowed by an increasing number of militiamen.

Upon reaching an intact warehouse, they meet Pstun-Rage. He warns them against trying to steal the treasure. Killraven says that treasure would only burden them and asks for their help against the Martians.

Pstun-Rage attacks Killraven with his scythe. Killraven knocks it from his hand. Pstun-Rage attacks Killraven with his sickle. Killraven kicks him back, and he falls onto the point of his scythe. Killraven and M’Shulla get back on the stallion and escape. Pstun-Rage, mortally wounded, drags himself into the warehouse. The treasure is safe. The warehouse contains prizes for boxes of cereal.
